Nicole's report

All photos by/from Nicole Pellegrini. Please email if you would like to use any of them on any other website, thanks!

This was the first year I was able to attend the Jack Glover Memorial Walk in person. It was a wonderful event, well-attended and supported by many, and I know we all had a great time being there and being able to participate. I figure I'll let my photos do the talking for the most part, and provide commentary to fill in the details along the way.

The event took place in Salisbury, Maryland, where I arrived Friday night (October 1) with fellow team member Inna and her sister, Lila. We arrived too late to make the Meet & Greet over at the Brew River, so after a quick check-in at the hotel, we headed out to meet up with folks for dinner.

We had a huge turnout for dinner, including John (of course!), Craig Byrne & friends from Kryptonsite and a lot of folks from the Alzheimer's Association. It was a great night to celebrate the success of all the fundraising efforts this year, and we got in quite a bit of fun as well--especially when Craig asked John to leave a phone message for his roommate back in L.A.!

We all hammed it up for some fun photographs outside afterwards.

Back at the hotel we got on the computer to see how the Memory Walk ebay auctions were doing. We coordinated breakfast plans for the morning, and attempted to get a good night's sleep before the Walk!

Saturday morning came and though there were some clouds overhead, it looked like we would be safe from the rain for at least a little while! We arrived at the Elks Lodge for check-in and found a number of other folks from John's Team who had made it to the Walk from the Baltimore area, including John Horney, Jeffrey Lee, Jason Ray, and Jerome Palmerino Jr(please email me if I've gotten any of those names wrong or left you off the list--I know I didn't get everyone's names.) We posed for a couple group pictures:

...and spent some time catching up and getting ready for the Walk while John took photos with the other teams:

At about 9am, it was time to get moving! Everyone assembled outside for a few more announcements and some stretching exercises to get ready for the 5k walk. John made sure to take a few photos of the crowd before we got going.

Finally, we were off! Fortunately the rain held off for most of the Walk, although we did get hit by a few light showers along the way. At least the serious downpours held off until later. It was a little after 10am when I made it back to the Lodge and everyone began to reassemble for refreshments, a raffle of a lot of Smallville goodies John had brought, and prizes/awards for the teams and individuals who had raised the most in donations. John received the award for individual as well as team donations--thanks to everyone who had helped along the way with donating, bidding on the auctions, and participating in the Walk.

Afterwards, a group of us all had time for lunch before Inna, Lila, and I had to catch our bus back north. All in all I had a wonderful time and I think it's safe to say everyone else who made it did as well. My deepest thanks to John for being such a terrific host, and to everyone who participated in or helped promote the Walk in some way and helped raise funds for the Alzheimer's Association. Hopefully with everyone's support and participation, next year will be even bigger and better!
